From Kichijoji station (JR Chuo Line and Inokashira Line), head out the north Sun Road exit and past, or through, the small lanes called Harmonica Yokocho. Across the street from the Tokyu Department Store, the club is easy to see on the first floor just inside the small alley

A fun place with good food that always plays great recorded jazz; this is strictly speaking not a jazz kissaten, but a place to kick back late at night with a drink with friends. The music selection is excellent, and the food and wine are satisfyingly well done. They play many kinds of music, though, so if you’re a strict jazz-only person, you might not get only jazz.
Don’t stay downstairs, though, but head upstairs, where the sound system is excellent and the choice of recorded music is diverse and appealing. You can request songs, and they have a retro 70s sound on excellent vintage equipment. Vinyl? Their shelves are loaded with it. Without requests, the DJ often tends towards more contemporary jazz, perhaps because the crowd is often a bit younger and hipper, but they have a substantial reserve selection of older jazz as well.
It is a great alternative if the other jazz clubs are full or if you want a better dinner choice. The atmosphere is as funky as advertised, and the vibe is easy-going. Funky is one of the longest-running jazz bars, and rightly so. It’s a great place to pop in after a meal, during the day, or for an entire evening.
