A full seventeen-piece band is always a treat. Junko Moriya’s is one of the best in Japan. This special event in an acoustically rich hall is dedicated to Rudy Van Gelder, whose recording techniques produced some of the most important works in the history of jazz. His engineering and mixing techniques influenced not just jazz, but all recorded music. His passing last year was a tremendous loss.

Fortunately, musicians like Moriya want to be sure his legacy is not forgotten. She will be putting together a special evening of jazz dedicated to Van Gelder with some of Tokyo and Yokohama’s very best jazz musicians. This evening is not to be missed. Moriya’s orchestra always is primed to play and with Van Gelder’s work in mind, and in heart, they’ll be especially stoked.
